The second day during the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Kosovo was a busy day as well, with activities in the latest incubation center in Gjakova, Jakova Innovation Centre and ending with a developer oriented meetup at the Innovation Centre Kosovo together with IPKO where participants had the chance to pitch ideas to the second largest telecom operater in Kosovo and win prizes.
IPKO, known to have a unique approach with its customers and the special focus on youth, gave also to every participant today at the meetup at Innovation Centre Kosovo, an initial 3G package marking this way the preparations for the first customers as the 3G internet launches by December 1 this year. One of the best ideas was the development of an application which will collect the royalty points of the user and give them the chance to see how much they have and use them through the application to turn them into rewards. This idea won also a smartphone Samsung Galaxy Y, sponsored by IPKO Telecom.
Blaz Umek and Alban Kastrati from IPKO, presented some of the work that they have done so far as a telecom operator and the products that are present in the market, while Umek emphasized especially the issue of the lack of data from Kosovo a country since the apps downloaded give different countries and results from where the users come from.
â€œKosovo is an iPhone country, and we had up to 70 users the first week the iPhone 5S launched. We don’t know how people got them, but Kosovars are enthusiasts about the iPhoneâ€ said Umek, while presenting data on how iOS is the current dominating mobile operating system within the users of IPKO Telecom.
Participants where also invited to join the Startup Weekend event this weekend, during which ideas will be turned into real products during 54 hours through the support of mentors and the opportunities to win awards.
