When thinking about spending quality time over the weekend, users usually are turning to social media and apps like Foursquare or Yelp to get to the latest recommendations. They see trending locations, friends check-ins or suggested locations. It works well in many parts of the world and such platforms are always in best shape when community driven.
“n’xhep” (in English meaning”in’pocket”) is one of those apps for iOS and Android, aiming to provide information specifically to people in Kosovo on places to visit for coffee, restaurants, clubs or theaters.
Even though the name sounds weird for our international audience, Rolling Rabbits the company behind the app and which previously released music app Elly, has managed to come up with a modern design, that utilizes easy user navigation and shows information to the user at first hand.
The first version of the app, is limited to Prishtina and has 5 categories of choice for information to access, which include over 74 coffeehouses, 80 restaurants, 10 clubs, 8 taverns and more. The navigation is in list-view format and the chosen restaurant is selected, the user sees a photo of the place, details on working hours, a description and some brief information on weekly events.
Of course Foursquare is a super-power compared to “n’xhep” with plenty of features that are community driven and ensure constant updates. Some of them include details on where people like to hang-out, where’ their currently staying, feedback on service, details on the menus, plenty of pictures, and much more. Foursquare has also location-based notifications for providing you tips when you’re near interesting places where friends have been before or users have been checked-in earlier.
On the other hand, the team behind “n’xhep” is an early-stage Foursquare, with a self-managed system and moderated data-entry that rolls-out updates in batches. There’s plenty of room for more development, which we’re potentially going to see in the near future. The app is available for free for both iOS and Android.
