The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama has announced today a new technological feature to the Police Force of the country, which draws, even more, attention to the reforms they have undergone.
The Digital Commission is a new mobile application developed especially for the citizens, which serves for the purpose of reporting a crime in full anonymity, reporting wrong parking, illegal construction, corruption, stealing, illegal weapon possession or even complain about bad Police behavior. The means that people can use include picture taking, information about the event, location, anonymity, coordinates on location, etc.
Komisariati Digjital (Available on Android), gives the user access to his personal reports list, access to latest reports which are limited to location, date and number and also explain if the case has been resolved or is in development. It’s a bit unclear who takes care on the back-end side to resolve the case, is it going to be from the station or the policemen are going to have another app for themselves with more details, but for the moment the main attention is on the citizen side of the app.
The application has been developed and finance by the Vodafone Albania Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and PROTIK Innovation Center. It’s currently available for Android only, however iOS is going to follow soon.
