Females in IT is the latest project coming up from the American University in Kosovo – AUK, which aims to stimulate the engagement of young women in the ICT sector and ease their transition to labor market through internships in Kosovar companies.
The Skill Gap Analyses conducted by the Association of ICT companies of Kosovo (STIKK), depicting that only 20% of people employed in the ICT sector are women, provided a strong basis for the initiative and development of the project.
To solve this problem AUK developed a 18-month course which aims to increase the young women enrolled in ICT courses at AUK Training and Development Institute by building competitive skills, creating success stories and increase awareness in society that changes paradigm about the profession and helps bridge the gender divide in the profession.
The training/courses will be provided for free for 50 young women to fit the job profiles of Desktop Support Technician, System & Network Administrator, and Software & Application Developers.
The project is supported by an Opportunity Fund from Enhancing Youth Employment Project (EYE) financed by the Swiss Development Cooperation Office in Kosovo, and implemented by the consortium HSIK – HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Kosovo and MDA – Management Development Associates. Application period open from 1 – 10 September and you can still apply here. Full details on the website.
