Bunkr Raises $1.4 Million for its PowerPoint Killer

French startup Bunkr raised a total amount of 1 million euros ($1.3M) from Idinvest Partners (VC fund of Criteo, Deezer, Dailymotion, Synthesio, Withings…), Daniel Marhely (Deezer co-founder) and Xavier NIEL (founder of Free, the 2nd French ISP, and French telecom and tech mogul).

We still remember the days in August 2013, when we first wrote about Bunkr and then again in October 2013, when we wrote about the redesigned launch, and now we’re thrilled to share the news about the investment which was confirmed to us by Eduard Petit, who said that “This financing allows us to improve the development of our product and accelerate our international growth. One year after its launch, Bunkr has conquered the hearts of 50,000 users in 170 countries, mostly in Brazil, Eastern Asia and the U.S.”

While in another presentation shared on their website, Bunkr’s CEO, Alexis Jamet said that this investment is a major step forward in Bunkr’s development and will enable the expansion of the product.

The PowerPoint antidote, allows you to collect content and create presentations, integrating image search and saving steps that you usually have to take when working on your Power Point slides. Bunkr allows you to add slides to your presentation easily with the bookmarklet, while you can include images, video, articles, websites, notes or quotes etc.

The service now has 50,000 registered users and 1,000 paid clients and because it uses HTML5 presentations, Google will index this content. When you open a presentation, you don’t have to use Flash in your browser, you don’t have to install an app on your smartphone. You can just click on a link, and it will work in whatever browser you are using.

And yes, with the big announcement Bunkr has launched a new version of Bunkr with a new freemium model (like Github) and new connexion ex: Twitter integration:
