The city of Gjakova is a striving city for development in Kosovo, constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to engage citizens in action. The latest comes in the form of Digi Gjakova, which is an event aimed at creating solutions that will solve some of the citizens problems.
Software developers will gather for an intense weekend of application development, closely mentored by technological professionals and governance specialists. At the end of the weekend, teams will present their work in front of a chosen audience and professional jury. The best web-based solutions will get 4,000€ each, to continue with development.
This competition will contribute directly to increased transparency at the local level and promote civic engagement in terms of not only raising the issue but also providing solutions. Citizens will be challenged to provide user-friendly solutions to the problems.
What are the challenges?
There are many, but the Gjakova Municipality would like you to solve one of the following:
(1) open up the recruitment process through e-recruitment,
(2) Upgrade the complaints process through e-participation,
(3) visualize budget and municipal expenses through e-spending.
Can I apply?
Yes indeed. If you have a great web-based solution that your team can develop and you all are 16 years+, of course. The deadline is Nov, 16th. 23:59, so start working now.
Teams will first be screened when they apply so make a good application. Then, selected teams will work on their solution during the weekend and present the solution in front of a jury. The top 3 solutions will be rewarded.
Cash-prize of 4,000€ for each three winners. This will help out to turn the lab solution into a real life one.
