In 4 years, Web Summit has grown from 400 attendees to over 22,000 from more than 110 countries. It’s been called â€œthe best technology conference on the planet and it’s growth is expected to continue as the conference is shifting its location from Dublin to Lisbon.
This years edition aims to gather thousands of tech enthusiasts from all over the world again for an exciting round of top level speakers, investors, companies, startups and what more. Some of the announced speakers include: Mike Krieger, Co-Founder at Instagram; Ed Catmull, President at Pixar Animation Studios; Stewart Butterfield, Co-Founder & CEO Slack and many more.
New additions to this year’s summit include Office Hours; a form of speed dating where start ups can sit down with leading investors to discuss their projects. An Angel Summit meanwhile will provide an opportunity for 500 Angel investors to meet each other through social events and roundtable discussions prior to the Web Summit beginning. Other new features include a fashion and a health-tech summit bringing the total number of summits to 21.
Since 2010, approximately 3,000 start-ups who attended the summit have raised on average 394,448 each, with a cumulative total of around $1.2 billion, according to figures released by the Web Summit, and as reported on Irish Times. The 2015 Web Summit takes places from November 3rd to the 5th in the RDS with over 30,000 visitors from around the world expected to attend.
