Girls Coding Kosova is the latest initiative coming up from Kosovo and aiming to support and encourage female presence in the technology sector, through the promotion of role-models, encouraging meetups, leading debates and advocating for a better environment.
The lack of female technologists, coders, designers or other related technological profession is a global issue, and as such it touches also the technology sector of Kosovo. Having this in mind, Blerta Thaçi and Zana Idrizi have launched the initiative Girls Coding Kosova and have held their first local meetup this weekend, presenting the mission and vision of the initiative in front of a dozen participants, mostly from Computer Science background , while Kosovare Kranisqi, Executive Director of Athene Kosovo LLC, was present as their first speaker sharing personal experiences and the challenges of a female entrepreneur and technological enthusiasts.
Blerta Thaci confirmed for Digjitale that the interest of the participants was fair higher what was expected and new plans about upcoming meetups are going to be announced soon. “We will continue to work in this direction and expand the agenda and the number of participants” added Blerta.
