The business angels network MVP Angels offers new funding opportunities for tech startups with global potential. Having an average value of 50.000 EUR, the investments are addressed to some of the best alumni of the MVP Academy accelerator, teams that are ready to take their products to the next level and need mentorship and support in their scaling efforts.
MVP Angels is a business angels network that syndicates a micro-investment fund for every edition of the MVP Academy accelerator in order to finance some of the best teams in every batch. The average value of the investment is 50.000 EUR in exchange for a minority stake in the company.
MVP Angels is coordinated by Bogdan Iordache (Board Manager & Co-Founder, How to Web & TechHub Bucharest), Daniel Dragomir (CEO How to Web & TechHub Bucharest) and George Di (Startup Programs Manager, How to Web), as principal advisors, and has the support of top-notch professionals and investors acting as advisors: Ana Maria Andronic (lawyer, DLA Piper), Carmen Sebe (ex-CEO, COO Avangate, now angel investor), Mihai Sfinescu (private equity / venture capital investor), Cosmin OchiÈ
The business angels that are part of the MVP Angels network are successful entrepreneurs, experienced investors, or remarkable professionals in the IT industry, such as Philipp Kandal (General Manager EU, Telenav), Malin Iulian Tefnescu (angel investor), Bogdan Mnoiu (Founder & CEO, iRewind), Lucian Todea (Founder, Soft32 & angel investor), Bogdan Rp (Product Director, Vector Watch), Dan Clugreanu (Founder, Alliance Computers & angel investor) or Drago Nicolaescu (CEO, Visionary Business Consultants & angel investor).
Besides the financial investment, startups receive continuous support from a proven team of advisors for a period of 6 to 12 months, time in which the MVP Angels principal advisors join the board of the company and help them overcome the challenges they face. Moreover, the startups get access to relevant connections in the tech industry and an extensive network of over 400 investors, accelerators, venture capital funds and experienced mentors, thus having entry points in different tech ecosystems for scaling the business and / or raising future rounds.
We choose the startups to invest in from the alumni of the MVP Academy accelerator because we want to invest in companies whom we already know very well and who have a clear development plan for the next 6 to 12 months. The investment strategy is very different from the usual spray & pray we offer smart money and we closely work with our teams. That’s why we are looking for senior teams, well-balanced and with relevant experience in their sector, preferably with previous entrepreneurial experience and that build a highly scalable product addressing a big market opportunity, said Bogdan Iordache.
MVP Angels has already invested in InnerTrends, a startup that helps the web and mobile developers out there to optimize their user acquisition process by better understanding user behavior. They entered MVP Academy with a technology and a good understanding of the problem: the web and mobile app developers struggle to take decisions based on data. They nailed down the product later on, after conducting intensive customer interviews and got an in-depth understanding of what is the best way to solve this problem.
We entered the MVP Academy Class of 2015 with a technology. By the end of it, we had a product, paying customers and a one-year growth plan. We changed pretty much everything, twice, but we ended up with a clear direction. Later on, we brought 2 more people in our team, opened up our office in Cluj, kept onboarding clients and launched the public beta version of our product. The investment received from MVP Angels helped us way beyond money: we get all the support needed to scale globally, we have access to valuable connections in the industry, experienced mentors, as well as unprecedented support from the advisors, says Claudiu Murariu, Founder & CEO, InnerTrends.
MVP Angels is looking for their next investments. The startups will be selected from the alumni of MVP Academy, an accelerator program for early-stage tech startups building disruptive products with global potential. The third edition of the accelerator will take place at TechHub Bucharest in between April 11th and March 31th and will bring together 12 startups. Applications will soon be opened on the program website http://mvpacademy.co
