More opportunities to entrepreneurs from Albania and Kosova

Yunus Social Business Albania and Nxitja e Biznesit Social sh.a, with the support of the Government of Albania and various national and international organizations, since mid-2012, have implemented the Social Business Movement of Albania, aiming to promote and support development of social businesses in various regions and sectors, and tackling key social and environmental issues of most marginalized social groups of the country.

YSB has been co-founded by Peace Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus to scale his experience in setting up over 40 social businesses in Bangladesh, while now together with UNDP, the Austrian Agency for Development, the Ministry of Social Issues and Youth and a series of other organisations, will start the second edition of the acceleration program, from November 2014 until February 2015.

The program is a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to develop their personal and leadership skills, test their ideas, get mentoring from local and international experts, get access to other entrepreneurs and also get support for the best project. The program will bring the best applicants together with experts from Albania and the region.

The applications are open from 20 September until 20 October 2014 for social entrepreneurs from Albania and Kosovo who want to learn to develop their business and move it towards 4 of the most promising sectors with social impact: Agriculture, Environment, Tourism and Technology. The start-ups that can apply include those that are in idea stage, planning stage, preparation stage or development stage. Applications can be send directly in english at:

The applicants will be selected from October 21 – November 5 in two stages, where the first one include selection and evaluation of semifinalists 21-26 October and the other stage includes interviews from 27 October until 2 November. The best 25 applicants will be selected for the Acceleration Program while the winners will be annouced on November 6th, during the visit of Prof. Yunus in Albania.

The acceleration program offers among other things: 130 hours professional support and mentoring for those applicants that get accepted, and it also includes training, assistance, consultation, etc; also support in developing the business plan; joint financing of 1000 Euros for top 3 entrepreneurs that go through the qualification and their business plans have the most social impact, etc. For more details visit:
