The 4th edition of REDO International Graphic Design Conference will take place on October 31 – November 2, 2014 in Prishtina and based on the information posted so far on Facebook, there’s quite some exciting stuff coming-up.
Among the first speakers announced is a transdisciplinary graphic design collective, founded in 20 by Patrick Lacey (UK), Benjamin Reichen (FR), Kajsa (SE) and Maki Suzuki (FR) in London, England, after meeting at the Royal College of Art. Much of bkes work concentrates on the social aspect of design and the strength that collaboration can bring to a project. Events often involve film, dancing, eating and cooking and teaching. They are also singers, painters, photographers, members of bands, curators, fashion designers, DJs, teachers, and pen manufacturers! They have worked with A Camp, Air, Daft Punk, and with the fashion designers Martin Margiela and Hussein Chalayan.
Experimental Jetset is next on the list, an Amsterdam-based graphic design studio founded in 1997 by Marieke Stolk, Erwin Brinkers, and Danny van den Dungen. Focusing on printed matter and site-specific installations (and describing their methodology as “turning language into objects”), Experimental Jetset have worked on projects for Stedelijk Museum CS (SMCS), Purple Institute, Centre Pompidou, etc.
While we are getting closer to the event in October, more things will fold around REDO a conference that stands behind the designer community of Kosovo and is trying to push beyond the local borders. More details here: http://www.redoconf.com/
