SafeDrive, Romanian startup that is part of MVP Academy Class of 2015, received a GOLD Edison Award during the ceremony that recently took place in New York. The app rewards drivers for not texting while driving and was the winner of the Lifestyle & Social Impact category.
SafeDrive is a mobile app that awards points to the drivers that do not text while driving. Once a driver exceeds 10 km/h, the SafeDrive algorithm starts awarding him points, and the Release button appears on the screen, helping him drive safely, without distractions
If the user ever wants to use his phone while driving, he has to press the “Release†button and this action will result in losing the points he earned during that trip. Once he arrives at the destination, the points will top up in his account and can be further spent in the SafeDrive Marketplace, an ever-growing shop with discounted products from partner companies.
The social impact of SafeDrive
The social impact of SafeDrive has been officially recognized last week, being awarded a gold medal during the prestigious Edison Awards Ceremony.
We are deeply honored to receive this award, as it highlights the hard work and the dedication of our team. This prestigious recognition reflects our mission to increase road safety in an innovative fashion, declared Tudor Cob, Co-Founder of SafeDrive.
Named after the world-renowned inventor Thomas Alva Edison, the Edison Awards reward the most innovative products in the world, celebrating innovation and business success in product development, marketing, and design.
The Edison Awards winners are selected by a panel comprising more than 3000 senior business executives and academics from across the United States. The evaluation is based on four distinct criteria: concept, value, delivery and impact.
