The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, as part of the celebrations planned for the seventh anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo, has opened a competition for the best photos taken by its citizens. They will be published in a special book, a successor to the first #InstaKosova book, while the winner of the best photo will be awarded 500 Euros.
To the youth of Kosovo, Instagram is one of the best ways to share moments with friends, and why not share scenery from their country with hash-tags like #instakosova or #instakosovo. Back in 2013, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo organized a competition supported by the Norwegian Embassy and the British Council in which more than 11,000 photos were posted in all social networks, providing fantastic content for the first jubilant Kosovo book, titled #instakosova.
The competition #InstaKosova and #InstaKosovo, will be organized again this year and MFA Kosovo, has invited all citizens to post their pictures that reflect the culture, architecture, urbanism, nature, society, nightlife, youth and life in Kosovo, through the same hashtags #instakosova and #instakosovo.
The gathered material will be evaluated by a five-member jury consisting of: Blerim Racaj (photographer), Nita Salihu (designer), Blerta Kambo (photographer), Arjeta Emra (British Council), Era Istrefi (singer). The best photo will be rewarded 500,00 Euros and other 10 best photos with 100,00 Euros. The competition ends on February 3, 2015.
In the meantime the jury will select about 100 photos that will be published in a photo book, marking the second edition of this publication and also celebrating the independence of Kosovo. This book will be shared for free in various state institutions everywhere around the world. This year, #InstaKosova will also launch its active website, thus increasing opportunities to publicize the materials, always under #InstaKosova.
The winners of the first publication #InstaKosova were photographers Arben Llapashtica, Beni Cufi, Besnik Hasanaj, Fisnik Dobreci, Shkelzen Rexha and this publication is rated as the most authentic publication of Kosovo for the international and local audience. This book has won the award for the best project of digital diplomacy in several international publications.
