Startups awarded 2 million at a pitch competition in Belgrade

The winner of this year’s edition of Catch 2016 pitch competition organized by Foundcenter Investment in Belgrade, Serbia is Vismedic from Serbia, with a grand price from the 750,000€ while second prize of 400,000€ went to BNesis from Ukraine-Spain and the third prize of 180,000€ went to Friend Recap again from Serbia.

With over 850 applications and 44 selected finalists the Catch 2016 pitch competition draw an interesting attention to Belgrade, whereas participants from all over the world pitched their ideas to compete for an investment award of up to 1m €.

here was also innovation awards, whereas 650,000 were given to Brawas and C gel, while Kosovo-based startup Formon 3D, got also an award of 130,00€. With this award, FoundCenter Investment raised the total amount of invested money to almost 2 million euros in projects whose development will be closely followed.

The founder of FoundCenter Investment, Dejan Jocic said that the decision was difficult and that is why as many as 13 companies received the award. “The idea was to find a winner in this region, but with an idea that is applicable everywhere,” said Josic.

Foundcenter Investment is a German investment fund based in Berlin, Los Angeles, and Belgrade, and as such is looking for new, attractive ideas and businesses with disruptive innovation at their heart.
